Peace Building & Conflict Mitigation Training
Training Project: "Strengthening Women and Youth Through peace building and Conflict mitigation"
In November 2023, a group of women, girls and youth participated on a two days training to strengthen their capacities on Peace Building and Conflict Mitigation, under the theme “Strengthening Women and Youth Through peace building and Conflict mitigation”, where more than 25 participants were trained in Juba, given linkages and ideas for advancing these agenda at the state and local levels.
The project goal is to enhance Women, Girls and Youth participation in peace building and conflict mitigation effort by creating means and ways on how they can actively get engaged in advocacy and conflict prevention and become part and parcel of decision making process.
The training highlighted that in particular young people have the ability to use diverse and innovative approaches to peacebuilding. “Through dialogue and meaningful interaction, they are the drivers of change,” lamented the training coordinator – Ms Winnie Lou.
Participants were inspired by interactive sessions and by sharing best practices on specific youth-led projects and initiatives promoting peace and gender equality in the country. They highlighted cultural exchanges as a powerful tool for creating channels of communication and promoting understanding and empathy and setting into motion processes of reconciliation and peacebuilding.
